#FriendsWithBooks: A Long Way Down

A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby

What my best friend Amal is currently reading – A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby. She was half-asleep when I extorted texted her. She told me she’ll send it ‘in an hour’ once she properly wakes up because she’d had a long night facetiming with her sister. I rolled my eyes and reluctantly typed ‘okay.’ I’m that understanding when it comes to books her.

And she kept her word. And it was 10am+ on New Year’s Day when I texted. And there’s no time difference between our very different worlds. A friend, I am.

#FriendsWithBooks: Top 10 For Men

You know, I’m pretty 100% sure Simon is messing with me because he decided to show me (and antagonize me with), this particular book. But his excuse was, I quote, “This one may not be clear so I took a pic of the cover”.

He’s not reading anything as of late so this’d do.

Few books caught my attention, namely:

  • The Adventures of Tintin (Oh, yes)
  • Save the Cat (Simon here, is a cat person)
  • Dealing with People You Can’t Stand (Now I am really offended.)

Thank you Simon!

#FriendsWithBooks: When Breath Becomes Air

New category for my friends, as in, friends I could use cuss words and get away with it all the time (they do the same unto me, okay). Unfortunately for us all, none of us live in the same country/state. So I’d have to extort photos from them by harassing them online.

Without further ado, here’s the first book post I managed to extort from my friend, Chris M.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

Chris was sweet enough to get out of bed (thank you, love) to snap a photo of her Kindle for me (she told me ‘lemme find my Kindle’). She sent me this, despite my explicitly asking for her current read. CURRENT READ! This is what friends do to you, right? They never listen. So I’m going to have to assume she’s currently reading When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.

When Breath Becomes Air has been sitting in my Kindle for a couple of months. I hope to get around to it this year!

p.s. She sent me two versions of the same photo. I used the second version. Also, Chris eventually got out of bed after sending this to me. She had to get her two kids ready as they’re heading over to her cousin’s place to celebrate the first day of 2019. Happy New Year!
