Read: Bad Blood – Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup

Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou

Oh dear. I’ve written about this book more than a couple of times – here and here and here.

Elizabeth Holmes has been on my radar for almost a decade! If you look into my other posts, you’d know how far back she’d crossed my magazine paths.

Bad Blood is easily one of my best reads of the year. We’ll see how that goes!

In Progress: Bad Blood

Posted this on my Instagram today:

#BadBlood by #JohnCarreyrou is SO good, I might read it twice. In fact I followed her news before she even made the cover of Forbes, Fortune, and Inc. (I bought that copy). If you’ve worked in a tech start-up (I have), a corporate, dog eat dog, toxic environment (I have), watched ex-colleagues get “hauled away” by men in black from WPP fresh flown-in from London, HQ (I have, I was questioned too), experienced colleagues leaving with the pied piper (I have), worked with colleagues who find over promising clients some kind of twisted job satisfaction (I have), then this book is for you… (some link: Probably the best read of the year (for me).

Barely 13% into the book and it already got me all worked up on Elizabeth Holmes’ leadership style. Charisma aside, she’s probably the biggest hoot after Bernie Madoff!

In simpler words, she’s just a younger, silver spoon-fed PCP (power crazy person). Her idea is brilliant, even compassionate, but like one subject said – sci-fi like.

So. Putting walls up between teams so that only she gets to control the bigger picture? She certainly scored an instant credit for that in PCP101!

Well, I have 87% to go. If I had the peace to read during daytime, pretty sure my rant will be longer and less dim!
